About Delhi (NCT)

The Pinnacle of Indian Medical Education

New Delhi is undeniably the most sought-after destination for medical aspirants in India. It is home to legendary, world-class institutions like AIIMS Delhi, Maulana Azad Medical College (MAMC), and Vardhman Mahavir Medical College (VMMC). The clinical exposure provided by hospitals like Safdarjung and Lok Nayak is unparalleled.

Admissions to medical colleges in Delhi are primarily governed by two major universities: Delhi University (DU) and Guru Gobind Singh Indraprastha University (GGSIPU). Crucially, the entire counseling process—for both All India Quota and State Quota seats—is centrally conducted by the MCC (Medical Counselling Committee).

Private & Deemed MBBS Colleges in Delhi

While Delhi is famous for its government colleges, it has a very limited number of private and deemed medical institutions. Admissions to these are also conducted via the MCC.

# College Name Affiliation / Type Total Seats Approx. Fees Per Year (₹)
1 Hamdard Inst. of Medi Sci. Delhi (Muslim Minority) Jamia Hamdard (Deemed) 150 ₹ 16,00,000 / Yr

Conclusion

Securing an MBBS seat in Delhi is highly prestigious due to the presence of top-tier medical institutions like AIIMS, MAMC, and VMMC. The clinical exposure and academic rigor here are unmatched in the country. For local students, fulfilling the 11th/12th schooling criteria is critical for the 85% state quota. For non-Delhi students, competing for the 15% AIQ or exploring deemed options like HIMSR via MCC counseling is the pathway to studying in the capital.
